Just Write, Right?

Epiphany.

Strictly speaking, it’s to do with the Three Kings rocking up, or something…but for the heathens amongst us, it can also mean a moment of sudden and great realisation.

I didn’t have mine via the manifestation of a divine being, but whilst making the bed.

I’ve been in a terrible jumble since the summer, trying to start a book I didn’t know how to finish; attempting to progress my life and unsure which direction was the best one to take…and then, just like that, the veil has lifted and I can see my way clear for the first time in ages!

The book without a coherent plot that’s been started and stopped, begun umpteen times and shelved as many, now has an ending that makes sense of everything, and means something.

I understand what’s expected of me in the months ahead, and the road seems clear far off into the distance, and over the horizon. It’s long, will take some effort to traverse, but it’s unobstructed…or, at least, less pitted with potholes and littered with obstacles than it’s felt for many a year.

What a relief!

I don’t really believe in New Year’s Resolutions (mostly because it’s gutting when you break ‘em within a week), but I’ve got one; just one. Keep It Simple. Don’t allow your own worry and confusion to bar the way. Put one foot in front of the other and progress
